1. Introduction

AGS Kentrikos Robertson (“we”, “our”, or “The Church”) is committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring transparency in how information is handled.

This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use the AGS Kentrikos Robertson mobile application (“the App”), which provides church-related information including announcements, events, reading materials, contact information, and location details.

This policy is aligned with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa.

2. Personal Information Collection

The App does not collect, request, store, or process personal information from users.

Specifically:

  • No account registration is required.
  • No names, email addresses, or phone numbers are requested within the App.
  • Users cannot submit personal information through the App.
  • The App does not use analytics or advertising tools.
  • We do not track individual user activity within the App.
  • The App does not include analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. Only Firebase Cloud Messaging is used for notifications.

3. Push Notifications

The App uses Firebase Cloud Messaging, a service provided by Google, to send event updates and announcements.

To enable push notifications, limited technical information (such as a device notification token and basic device information) may be automatically processed by Firebase. This processing is handled by Google and is used solely for delivering notifications.

We do not:

  • Access individual device tokens,
  • Link notification data to specific users,
  • Use notification data for tracking or profiling.

Users must opt in to receive notifications; the operating system may prompt for notification permission. Users may disable push notifications at any time in their device settings.

4. Firebase Database Content

Church administrators may upload event and announcement information to a secure Firebase database. This information is informational only and does not include personal user data collected from the App.

The App retrieves this content for display purposes only. Users cannot write to or modify the database.

5. External Links and Third-Party Services

The App contains links to external platforms, including:

  • The Church’s official website
  • Online forms on the Church’s website
  • Social media platforms
  • WhatsApp
  • Map services for directions

When users access these services, they are subject to the privacy policies and terms of those platforms. Any personal information submitted through forms on the Church’s website is collected and processed in accordance with POPIA. The App itself does not capture or store information submitted through external websites.

6. Maps and Location Services

The App includes a feature that allows users to open a map application to view the Church’s location.

The App does not request or collect location data or request location permissions. If a user chooses to open a map service, that service may process location information according to its own privacy policy.

The App only opens the external map application for viewing directions; it does not access the device’s location directly.

7. Data Security

Since the App does not collect or store personal information, no personal user database is maintained within the App.

Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are implemented in relation to Church-managed systems in accordance with POPIA requirements.

8. Users’ Rights under POPIA

Where personal information is collected through the Church’s website or other platforms, users have rights under POPIA to:

  • Request access to their personal information
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of personal information
  • Object to the processing of personal information where applicable

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational or legal changes. The updated version will be published on our website with a revised “Last Updated” date.

We keep prior versions for audit and governance purposes.
